SPIDER

The SPIDER connection and reinforcement system represents a revolution in the world of timber construction.

It allows the construction of multi-storey buildings with column-to-floor structure that until now were impossible to build, with a distance between the columns of more than 7.0 x 7.0 meters of structural mesh, and allows to transfer more than 5000 kN of vertical force between the pillars.

The revolutionary SPIDER system makes it possible to create timber skyscrapers with a column-to-floor system, eliminating all the beams. The steel core of the system prevents the CLT panels from being crushed and allows more than 5000 kN of vertical load to be transferred between the columns.

The arms of the system ensure the punching shear reinforcement of the CLT panels, allowing exceptional shear strength values. SPIDER offers the possibility to create free spans higher than 6.0 x 6.0 meters even without special connections between panels.

In addition to multi-storey buildings, SPIDER opens new architectural horizons, making it possible to create structures with large spaces, a reduced number of columns and large windows. Made of S355-S690 zinc plated steel, it is certified, calculated and optimised for glulam, LVL, steel and reinforced concrete columns.
