WHY PARTICIPATE
Step out of the classroom and into the field with T.I.M.B.E.R. NORTH AMERICA, a unique opportunity for university students and professors to connect theory with real-world timber construction applications.
Held at Rothoblaas headquarters in the heart of the Italian Alps, this immersive course offers the chance to observe full-scale mass timber assemblies and explore the full potential of this construction system.
CONTENTS
T.I.M.B.E.R. NORTH AMERICA combines technical theory and live demonstrations for a deep knowledge of modern timber construction. The program focuses on Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glulam systems, exploring many technical topics related to timber engineer.
DAY 1
Follow the complete assembly process of a mass timber structure, from foundation to roof, The day integrates structural theory with hands-on observation, focusing on connection systems, structural behaviour and advanced fastening solutions.
DAY 2
Shift focus to building performance and on-site safety: through lab sessions and expert-led lectures, you’ll explore moisture protection during construction phases, membranes and tapes performance, fire design, acoustic detailing and fall prevention measures.
TOPICS INCLUDE:
- CLT material characteristics, production and on-site handling
- Ground connection installation and waterproofing techniques
- Structural fastening systems, including concealed connectors
- Moisture management and swelling prevention in hybrid joints
- Building envelope performance
- Acoustics, fire design, fall protection and more…
AUDIENCE
University students from North America who want to get a deeper know-how on timber construction, both theory and practice.
Students in Architecture, Engineering and Timber Technology coming from North America
Professors looking to expand their knowledge in timber and hybrid construction systems
