Hybrid structure, partly submerged: concrete, CLT, glued laminated timber

The Amphibian Conservation Centre in Sierra Morelos Park, Toluca, Mexico, was built by combining CLT and glulam from KLH Massiveholz directly on site , thanks to Rothoblaas solutions for the assembly of large timber elements.

The main beams were installed with LOCK T, the secondary ones with TITAN and WBR design of arq. Giordana Rojas Rocha, Laurent Herbiet Santos and Andrés Burguete García, with Eng. Rubén Esparza made it possible to recycle CLT cuttings from the curved structure to make furniture, benches and desks with our screws, minimising waste.

Over its life cycle, this structure will sequester 107 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.
