Hybrid structure in concrete, CLT and glulam

Electrolux’s Greenhouse Sthlm is like a genuine city within a city, where the focus is on sustainability. Scheduled for completion in 2033, more than 3000 people are expected to live and work in the complex with 100 apartments, roof gardens, a main square, retail stores, a restaurant, bar and gym. 

Most of the urban regeneration project will be developed in timber with a view to sustainability, but also visual appeal and living comfort. The new buildings will be granted important environmental certifications: BREEAM Outstanding for the offices, Nordic Swan Ecolabel for the apartments and NollCO2 (ZeroCO2) for both. NollCO2 is the Swedish Green Building Council’s new certification standard.

To build it, thousands of HBS, TBS and VGZ screws will be used – a whopping 10 kg to support just one of the prefabricated glulam staircases assembled on site: not something you see every day. The line-up of connectors also includes ALUMIDI and WHT.
